Redefining Infrastructure Through Architecture
SCAAA collaborated with Yesco, a leading urban gas supplier in South Korea, to design and oversee the new Gyeonggi Branch Office from concept to completion.
Since 2021, our team worked closely with Yesco to translate the company’s operational identity and future vision into architectural form. The building was completed in the spring of 2024, bringing renewed energy and a sense of openness to the heart of Namyangju’s old city center.
Making the Invisible Visible
The exterior design of the new office draws inspiration from Yesco’s core function—urban gas management.
The architectural concept reinterprets underground gas pipelines emerging above ground, symbolizing both the invisible infrastructure that sustains the city and Yesco’s commitment to transparency and service innovation.
Function-Driven Interior Strategy
A key challenge was rethinking the traditional office layout to reflect the company’s operational reality: a majority of employees work in the field, not at desks.
To address this, we minimized fixed desk areas and instead expanded rest zones, break spaces, and support facilities to better accommodate the needs of on-the-go field personnel.
This layout provides a practical foundation for 24/7 infrastructure management, improving employee well-being while supporting efficient, uninterrupted gas service operations.
Architecture That Connects With the Community
The site was designed without perimeter walls, intentionally opening the building’s front yard as a shared space for local residents.
This approach strengthens the relationship between the company and the local community, transforming the site into a physical and symbolic connector between Yesco and the city.
Built on Values, Designed for the Future
At SCAAA, we believe good architecture is not defined solely by aesthetics, but by its ability to reflect the values of its users, respond to its context, and serve its community.
The Yesco Gyeonggi Branch Office represents a new model for infrastructure-focused corporate architecture—one that merges identity, function, and public engagement into a unified spatial experience.
